Philipp Lahm Will Retire in 2018

According to imfifa news, Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm said he would retire after the contract expiring in 2018.


Lahm is a native of Munich, at the age of 12 he entered Bayern youth academy. In 2003 he was loaned to Stuttgart to play two seasons, then returned to Bayern in 2005. He can play as fullback and defensive midfielder. In February 2004, he was selected to national team. In 2014 World Cup, he announced his retirement from the national team. Lahm played a total of 113 times for the German team and scored five goals.


Lahm has confirmed that his contract with Bayern Munich will expire in June 2018, then he choose to retire. And he would not continue his career in another teams. Imfifa said  Lahm may stay in Bayern, or succeed Matthias Sammer as sporting director.
